12.2.4

Getting started

12.2.4.1

Preconditions
Following preconditions have to be clarified with the customer or customer data administrator:
 •   Is the HiPath 3000 LAN ready? Does the customer need a LIM/LIMS card?
 •   Is the customer technically ready for the installation?
   -   Port 443 outgoing is open.
   -   Outgoing access to an internet NTP service.
   -   Permission for Internet is set.
   -   Proxy settings are prepared.

12.2.4.2

Using DHCP
By default, the Plug PC is set to DHCP. As soon as it is connected to the LAN, it should receive an IP address from the DHCP server. It will show up in the DHCP server as a "Debian" device. You can also use the sheevafind.exe tool. Once you start, it will search for all Plug PC's in your local network.

Prerequisite
The IP address is known.

Procedure
 1.   Start a browser and connect to the Plug PC's WBM by using: HTTPS :// <IP address of plug PC>. The first login screen appears which asks for a username and password. The initial username and password is "admin".
 2.   Enter the password. You will be asked to change the password.
 3.   Choose an appropriate password, and type it in twice into the respective fields. The Plug PC's main screen opens.

12.2.4.3

Using static IP
If you do not have a DHCP server running in your network, the sheeva plug will eventually come up with the static IP address of 192.168.2.11. network mask of 255.255.255.0. Please assign your PC an IP address within the same network and then connect the Plug PC's WBM by using: HTTPS :// <IP address of plug PC>.

File properties
If you want to assign a specific IP address to your plug PC, create a file with the myportal_net_static name:
 •   First line contains the IP address (allowed are space, 0-9, and '.' And it must contain 3 '.')
 •   Second line contains the network mask (optional, allowed are space, 0-9, and '.' And it must contain 3 '.')
 •   Third line contains the default gateway (optional, allowed are space, 0-9, and '.' And it must contain 3 '.')

Procedure
 1.   The myportal_net_static file can be created by the Windows Editor, but note that an ending like ".txt" is not allowed. You can change the name after you created the file.
 2.   Copy the file to the sheeva's USB stick.
 3.   Connect the USB stick to the Plug PC and boot up the Plug PC by inserting it into the power jack and connect to the Plug PC's WBM by using HTTPS :// <IP address of plug PC>. Note that you must then enter the network settings of your plug PC and re-enter the IP address, network mask, and gateway manually, otherwise this information will be gone after a reboot.
 4.   The first login screen will appear asking for a username and password. The initial username and password is "admin". Once you typed this in, you will be asked to change the password.
 5.   Choose an appropriate password, and type it in twice into the respective fields. Once this is done, you will get to the Plug PC's "Smart Services Assistant" main screen:
