Room Monitor

Implementing features, see also Manager E Room Monitor

Definition
The "Room Monitor" feature can be used to monitor the room in which the device is located. All types of system phones are suitable for this purpose. Room monitoring occurs via the speakerphone (hands-free microphone) of the monitoring system telephone. If the monitoring system telephone does not have a speakerphone, its handset must be picked up before activating room monitoring. The room monitor is automatically turned off on replacing the handset.
Room monitoring can only be enabled at a system telephone (i.e., internally). To do this, the user enters the access code for room monitoring (*88 is the default setting) at the monitoring system telephone and then calls this phone from another system telephone. The monitoring system telephone does not receive any call signaling, i.e., the call is switched through immediately. The microphone at the calling optiPoint or OpenStage system telephone is switched off by default.
If a call is received at a calling system telephone, the call waiting tone is heard there, but not at the monitoring system telephone. The user must disconnect the call to the monitoring system telephone in order to answer the incoming call. The user can subsequently call the monitoring system telephone again.
Room monitoring can be enabled in HiPath 3000/5000 Manager E on a system-wide basis by activating the "Room monitor" flag. The current room monitor setting for each individual system telephone can be seen under "System status" -> "System-wide" -> "Station flags".
