UPSC-D 
 

Introduction  
The UPSC-D (S30122-K5660-A300, S30122-K5660-M300 (Figure 3-24)) module is installed in HiPath 3550 and HiPath 3350 (wall housing). UPSC-D integrates the functions of a power supply and a battery manager. If operated on an AC network, no further components are needed.To be able to change to the emergency battery mode if the AC network fails, an additional battery pack must be connected.

Power supply  
The UPSC-D board is only released for continuous operation on an AC network. Continuous operation is not permitted on a DC network.
The temporary connection to a DC supply (48 V battery pack or 48 V DC network) is only used to bridge a failure of the AC network. The battery pack is the preferred solution.
NOTE: property damage from overvoltage  
If a 48 V DC network is used for the DC power supply instead of the 48 V battery pack, the same connection conditions must be adhered to as apply for a battery pack. The 48 V DC network must not exceed a maximum voltage of 60 V during operation, when charging or in the event of a malfunction. If this is not ensured, the DC network is not permitted to be connected to the UPSC-D.  

Additional power supply  
If the power supplied by the UPSC-D is insufficient, additional power can be supplied with an external power supply, i. e. a Power Box PB3000 with LUNA2. For this, the output of the PB3000 must be connected with the special -48 V DC input of the UPSC-D. Connecting the external voltage deactivates the internal -48 V output of the UPSC-D.

Emergency battery operation  
To be able to change to emergency battery operation if the mains power supply or the additional power supply fails, one of the following measures can be taken:
 •   An additional 48 V/1.2 Ah battery pack is connected to the UPSC-D.
 •   A 48 V/7 Ah battery pack is installed in the Power Box PB3000. If the PB3000 is to be used only for emergency battery operation but not as an additional power supply, no LUNA2 is necessary.

Approved battery packs for UPSC-D  
The following battery packs are approved and released for operation on the UPSC-D board:
 •   48 V battery pack S30122-K5928-X (4 x 12 V/1.2 Ah)
 •   48 V battery pack 4 x V39113-W5123-E891 (4 x 12 V/7 Ah)
 •   Not approved: The 24 V battery pack S30122-K5403-X  is not approved for use.
   
CAUTION  
Danger of explosion when the 24 V battery pack (S30122-K5403-X) is used with the UPSC-D  
It is prohibited to connect the 24 V battery pack (S30122-K5403-X) to the UPSC-D. The battery pack is overcharged during operation and an explosive gas escapes (hydrogen + oxygen).  
   
Important: The UPSC-D does not charge a battery pack with a voltage of less than 35 V (tolerance: 33 V to 37 V). This ensures that a low voltage battery pack, e. g. a 24 V battery pack, or a faulty battery pack, cannot be operated with the UPSC-D.

Bridging times  
The maximum possible bridging times of the HiPath 3350 and HiPath 3550 systems in emergency battery mode, i.e. if the network failed, are shown here. Values are provided for a 48 V/1.2 Ah battery pack and the Power Box with 48 V/7 Ah (without LUNA2). The bridging times were determined under the following conditions:
 •   All measurements were taken at a room temperature of approx. 23 °C (73.4 °F).
 •   The batteries were fully charged when measurements began.
The bridging times shown in the tables are rough guide values. Depending on the system configuration of your system, your values may differ from those specified here.

Switches and indicators  
Caution  
System voltage can only be switched on or off by plugging in or out the power plug. If using an uninterruptible power supply, switch off the battery voltage first.  
 •   LED, green: +5-V output voltage is available.
 •   LED, yellow: -48-V output voltage is supplied by the external power supply (Powerbox PB3000 with LUNA2).
 •   Slide switch for setting the ring frequency:
- 25 Hz (Germany + international market)
- 20 Hz (U.S.)
- 50 Hz (France)
 •   Slide switch for activating and deactivating the battery voltage (battery pack):
   -   up = off, battery voltage deactivated (battery backup off)
   -   down = on, battery voltage activated (battery backup on)
