DMC (Direct Media Connection) Channels

Definition
If the DMC Interworking feature is activated in an IP network between HiPath 3000/5000 and HiPath 4000, gateway connections are set up over so-called DMC channels. From the user's perspective, a DMC channel is a gateway channel that provides a gateway connection between HiPath and HiPath 4000. As a DMC channel must operate both a master connection and a slave connection, the number of DSP channels is reduced (DSP: Digital Signal Processor).

Gateway channels
(DSP channels)
The number of gateway channels (DSP channels) available falls as soon as the DMC Interworking feature is activated via WBM or Manager E. A DSP can then only operate 80% of its maximum possible channels (for example, six instead of eight DSP channels).
