Network-wide HFA Mobility using DLS |
| This feature allows the IP Mobility feature (Section 11.11 "IP Mobility (Mobile user logon, Mobile HFA)") to be used in a networked (TDM or IP) environment with a closed numbering range. |
| This feature is controlled using a DLS (Deployment and Licencing Server). The DLS is responsible for sending the correct registration information to mobile workpoint clients that are not logging-on at their home location. |
Prerequisites |
| • | IP Mobility is configured on each node as per Section 11.11 "IP Mobility (Mobile user logon, Mobile HFA)". |
| • | A DLS is configured on the customer's data network and is reachable from all required nodes. |
DLS Configuration for Network-wide HFA Mobility |
| Only the extra DLS configuration required for Network-wide HFA Mobility will be considered here: |
| • | Import the configuration from each node into the DLS using Element Manager (including the configuration of the mobile workpoint clients). Mobile workpoint clients are virtual devices on the DLS. |
| • | In "IP Device Configuration" activate the "Use for HFA Mobility with HiPath 3000" flag for each mobile workpoint client in each node. |
Operating procedure |
| Activate (Mobile user logon) = *9419 + mobile station number + password (password is optional if not configured) |
| The mobile workpoint will try to logon at the current node using the mobile station number entered. The "Logging On To Home" message will be displayed briefly. The log-on will fail because the mobile workpoint client is not configured at this node. The "Mobile Log On Failed" message will appear on the top line of the display with "Contacting DLS" on the bottom line of the display. The workpoint will then send a "mobility-configuration-request" message to the DLS. The DLS will then send the correct registration information that will allow this mobile workpoint client to log-on at the correct home node. |
