Dynamic Domain Name Service DynDNS

DynDNS is used to assign a fixed host name to the IP addresses dynamically assigned by Internet service providers for DSL connections. The DynDNS service can be used to access the gateway from different locations without knowing the current IP address of the gateway.
DynDNS is only operational in conjunction with DSL connections. This feature is not available with call-by-call Internet connections (for instance, via ISDN).

VPN
DynDNS is not a feature that only operates in conjunction with VPN. It is a separate feature, and, although it enables VPN with providers that supply dynamic IP addresses, it is also fully operational without VPN.
