Networking Definition

In this case, networking means:
 •   the connection of HiPath 3000 systems with one another and
 •   the connection of HiPath 3000 systems with other systems such as HiPath 4000.
A HiPath 3000 system forms what is known as a zone (node) to which the connected workpoint clients and a gatekeeper (HG 1500) belong. The zone may also include a gateway and a HiPath ComScendo Service.
Zones networked to one another form a domain, which is defined by the common, cross-zone administration platform HiPath 5000 Real-Time Services Manager (RSM).
HiPath 5000 RSM is used as the central administration unit in a HiPath 3000 system network. HiPath 5000 RSM is also the platform for the central provision of applications and facilitates their use by all IP-networked stations. It is also possible via the HiPath ComScendo Service to use an integrated gatekeeper and HiPath ComScendo features for IP workpoint clients.
